What does full-service interior design mean at Stone + Birch?Our full-service approach is designed to carry the vision of your home through every stage of the process. Depending on the scope, our involvement may include spatial planning, millwork design, lighting, plumbing, finishes, furnishings, procurement, and installation. The result is a home that feels cohesive, intentional, and considered from beginning to end.
What should I expect to invest in my project?Every project is different, and the overall investment depends on the size of the home, the scope of work, the level of customization, and whether the project includes furnishings, renovation, or new construction. Furnishings, materials, construction, and other project-related costs are separate from our design fees.
How are your design fees structured?Our interior design services are billed at $200 per hour, with a minimum design fee of $10,000. Once we understand the scope of your project, we prepare a tailored proposal outlining the anticipated design hours and estimated design fee.
At what stage should I bring Stone + Birch into my project?The earlier, the better. For renovations and new construction especially, involving us early allows us to thoughtfully coordinate layouts, cabinetry, lighting, finishes, plumbing, and other key design decisions before construction is too far along.
Can you work with the architect or contractor I already have?Yes. We regularly collaborate with architects, contractors, and trades throughout the design and construction process. If you do not yet have the right team in place, we can also help guide you toward the appropriate professionals for your project.
How long should I expect my project to take?Project timelines vary depending on scope and complexity. Furnishing projects may take several months, while renovations and new construction often span a longer period. At the start of the project, we establish an anticipated timeline and help guide each phase from design through completion.
What areas do you serve?Stone + Birch is based in Westfield, New Jersey, and works primarily throughout New Jersey and the surrounding areas. Select projects outside our immediate area may also be considered based on scope and location.
Do you take on smaller or single-room projects?Our focus is primarily on projects where we can create a thoughtful, cohesive vision across a meaningful scope of work. We may consider select single-room projects when the level of design, customization, and overall scope aligns with our full-service approach.
